As a character on Sex In The City, Cynthia Nixon conveyed the upright lawyer known as Miranda Hobbes. Then, her character instilled a principled sense in all of us, as the high powered attorney wasn't afraid to say how she felt, when she felt it. And while Cynthia Nixon's role as Miranda has come and gone, the actress has bigger things on her mind.
For years, Nixon has been a LGBTQ advocate, receiving the 2018 Human Rights Campaign Visibility Awards for her efforts in the fight for LGBTQ equality. Nixon not only advocates for herself, but also for her son and the many LGBTQ individuals who face discrimination daily. On social media the actress shared, “I’m so proud of my son Samuel Joseph Mozes (called Seph) who graduated from colege this month. I salute him and everyone else marking today’s #TransDayOfAction.”
Nixon is also a breast cancer survivor, who uses her platform to discuss important women’s health concerns. As a spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure foundation, Nixon advocates for women’s reproductive rights and encourages women to keep their own health at the forefront of their prioritizes.
Women are changemakers, and Cynthia Nixon is undoubtedly one of them.
