World Earth Day

Why life in plastic actually isn’t fantastic.

Our planet is astonishingly strong, but that doesn't mean Earth is immune to destabilizing factors that are constantly threatening the future of our planet. Each year, Earth Day is dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and action, placing conservation policy at the forefront of the conversation.

According to the World Economic Forum, by 2050 there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish, with at least 30% of all plastic packaging accumulating in the ocean. Plastic is very difficult to break down because it's made of synthetic materials and product biodegradability can be determined by a number of factors. This certainly serves as an issue, with plastic debris being consumed by both marine and land animals as well as tiny plastic fibers entering drinking water sources.

There’s no doubt that the growing plastic pollution epidemic is extremely detrimental to the livelihood of our natural ecosystems. Moreover, the ramifications of neglectful environmental behavior can have rapid consequences. We must become increasingly more focused on ways to reduce our individual plastic consumption and means of disposal. If we could all be more conscious of the impact of our daily decisions, we can collectively extend the life of our precious planet. It's a privilege to live on Earth so let’s do our part, today and everyday.
