Over the last year, there have been a growing number of attacks on the Asian American community, with one of the most horrendous occurring on Tuesday night. Eight individuals were shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia as a result of inflammatory rhetoric that have put Asian American and Pacific Islander families, communities, and businesses at risk.
Unfortunately, racism and xenophobia against Asian Americans is not a new phenomenon, however the dangerous discourse surrounding COVID-19 has escalated harassment and violence in these communities. All people and communities deserve to be safe and respected. There is absolutely no room for hate. As we stand by our Asian American and Pacific Islander allies, we’re sharing a number of advocacy organizations offering support and solidarity.
